We are very pleased to announce that negotiators for the Treasury Board and CATCA have reached a settlement in bargaining for a new collective agreement covering Air Traffic Controllers employed by Transport Canada. Members voted 100% in favour of ratifying the new deal.
The 4-year agreement, running retroactively from July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2018, provides:
- wage increases in each year for an overall 10.5% increase;
- a new additional top increment (and deletion of the bottom step) for all members effective April 1, 2016;
- significant improvements to all supervisory differential quantums, effective April 1, 2016.
All compensation increases are fully retroactive. As a result, an AI-6 maximum salary will increase from $114,025 to $126,025 as of July 1, 2017.
This deal was long and hard in the making. Bargaining began under the previous federal government, with a serious employer mandate to secure concessions, especially with respect to sick leave. Our members resisted this drive, and we finished with these demands off the table.
The bargaining team, CATCA EVP, Doug Best; Transport Canada Branch Chair, Steve Dryden; and Unifor Director of Transportation, Joel Fournier take this opportunity to express their gratitude to all the members, whose patience, support and solidarity made this deal possible.
In solidarity,
Peter Duffey
President
