NAV Canada Rescinds Layoff Notices

CATCA was informed this afternoon by NAV Canada that all 41 outstanding letters of surplus have been rescinded. Members will return to their positions after a short period of adjustment.

While CATCA is very happy for our members and their re-established job security, it continues to concern the Union that it took so long for the Company to make the obvious decision. Rescinding the letters provides relief for our members but does not make amends for the treatment they have received for the last six months at the hands of the Company.

Nevertheless, NAV Canada has at least made another step in the right direction and ended this issue. With the return of our members at risk, we can now move forward on the other issues still facing us, in particular the looming staffing crisis, the restart of training, the development of new rules on fatigue management, and the resolution of outstanding grievances.

CATCA looks forward to further steps being taken on the major issues still facing us.

On Behalf of the Executive Board;

Doug Best                                                        Scott Loder
President                                                         Executive Vice President
