Further to the January 10, 2023 B&F with respect to FAM Flights, and despite it being a contractual right, the Company has been unable to attain approval from long-range and U.S destinations to accept visits from CATCA members. NAV Canada is still seeking the required approvals and members should be aware that not receiving a response does not mean the request has been denied. Historically, approval and notification of the approved FAM Flight could be delayed up to, but no later than 30-days prior to the requested dates. It is our advice that members submit written requests for any international FAM destinations not listed in the Collective Agreement, or for conferences not on the approved list, directly to their manager. Include rationale (ie: a business case) to support your reason for the requested destination along with the dates requested.
If you are requesting a conference, we have received clarity from the Company that you will be entitled to 2 travel days as well as 1 FAM Day to attend one day of the conference. Any additional days you wish to attend will be at your own expense (NOTE: Gander ACC may be entitled to 1 extra travel day depending on the destination chosen).
We understand this is a frustrating process for all members and we appreciate your patience while we continue to address the issues with the FAM Flight Program at the National level.
On behalf of the Executive Board,
Nick von Schoenberg Scott Loder
