Canadian Air Traffic Controllers Ratify 2023 Collective Agreement

Members of the Canadian Air Traffic Control Association (Unifor Local 5454) have ratified a new five-year collective agreement with an 85.9% majority vote. The new collective agreement term will be April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2028. A total of 87.4% of the membership cast ballots.

The new agreement, which was unanimously recommended by the Contract Committee calls for significant increases to salaries and air traffic control premiums, as well as improvements to employment security, additional protections regarding staffing, and other changes to terms and conditions of work that will benefit all members.  This agreement will also allow the company the opportunity to make meaningful headway on addressing the serious staffing shortfall we are currently experiencing.

We thank the members for taking the time to vote and ratify this agreement. We also would like to thank the members for their outstanding support and solidarity during this round of bargaining. Standing together has brought us a fair collective agreement that will provide a period of stability for this Union and allow us to turn our attention to other significant challenges facing us.

Thanks also to the entire Contract Committee for their hard work and dedication during this bargaining process. These volunteers gave countless amounts of their personal time and always answered the call to travel when we needed to convene the team, sometimes on short notice. Their hard work has now been validated by CATCA members.

In solidarity,

Nick von Schoenberg                                             Scott Loder
