Call for Nominations: President
The Executive Board (EB) met last week and discussed the recent retirement notice given by Peter Duffey, effective Wednesday June 10th, 2020. Under the current circumstances (COVID-19) the EB passed a resolution suspending section 6.2 (b) of the Union’s Policy Book. The suspension of the clause will allow nominations to be made without a Branch resolution as Branch meetings cannot be held in many provinces due to COVID-19.
In consultation with the Elections Committee, the timelines for replacement of the President will be as follows:
- Nomination period for the position opens, Monday, June 15, 2020 at 12:00 EDT and will close on Monday, June 22, 2020 at 12:00 EDT
- Electronic voting for the position will commence on July 8, 2020 at 12:00 EDT and will close at 12:00 EDT on Monday July 13, 2020.
Nominations must be accompanied by signatures from 50 active members of the Association, at least five (5) of which must be from a Branch other than the nominating Branch. The nomination must be emailed to catca@catca.ca and be received not later than Monday June 22, 2020 at 12:00 EDT.

As passed by the membership at Convention 2016 in Halifax, incumbents will be required to sign the Non-Compete/Non-Disclosure Agreement as part of the nomination process. A copy of the Agreement is linked here.
