Bargaining Bulletin No. 4: Second Session of Bargaining Concludes in Ottawa, Nov. 28-Dec. 2, 2016

CATCA and NAV Canada resumed talks on Monday in Ottawa.

You will recall that both sides had agreed to begin bargaining early – before the usual legal starting date, which is four months prior to the March 31, 2017 expiry of the current collective agreement. Because of our November 2-9 session, we were able to get a good head start on exchanging and explaining proposals, as well as reaching tentative agreements on a significant number of non-monetary, secondary issues. That work continued throughout the past week.

NOTE: No agreement on any issue is final until a full settlement is reached.

Yesterday, December 1, CATCA officially served NAV Canada with the legal “notice to bargain” in accordance with the Canada Labour Code. This notice is simply part of the normal bargaining timelines.

The next session of talks is scheduled for January 16-20, 2017 in Ottawa.

We take this opportunity to thank our members for their patience and support, and to wish you and your families a happy and safe holiday season.

In solidarity,

Peter Duffey                                                    Doug Best
President                                                         Executive Vice President
