Bargaining Bulletin #8: Week Five Concludes in Cornwall

March 29, 2019

The CATCA Contract Committee and the NAV Canada bargaining team met in Cornwall this week, March 25 to 29, for the fifth full week of contract negotiations.

Talks continued around matters such as scheduling issues, FAM flights, and MOS, with tentative agreements being reached on a number of topics. The Contract Committee continues to view the process as positive and progress continues towards a final settlement.

Both sides will meet again in Cornwall the week of April 15 to continue talks. Considering the number of issues still open and under discussion, it is extremely unlikely that a tentative agreement will be reached before CATCA convenes its triennial convention in Banff.

Members should not view missing the expiry date of the current collective agreement as a failure or cause for concern, instead, they should view it as their Contract Committee taking the time to ensure everything is done correctly. We also wish to remind members that all past collective agreements that were reached after their expiry dates included full retroactivity on salary and premiums.

We appreciate the patience and support of the membership as we continue the bargaining process.

On behalf of the Contract Committee,

Peter Duffey                                                    Doug Best
President                                                         Executive Vice President
