Bargaining Bulletin No. 6: Jan. 30 – Feb. 3, 2017

Meetings resumed in Ottawa this week between the bargaining teams of CATCA and NAV Canada in the ongoing quest for a negotiated settlement.

Proposals have now been exchanged on the main monetary issues, which enables both sides to assess the costs and benefits of an overall settlement.

Besides salary and related demands, both sides took time to zero in on some key non-monetary issues which remain on the table. Information and presentations were exchanged in an effort to narrow the gap and to identify real solutions to the problems that the parties have brought to the table.

By the end of the week, the outline of a possible future settlement seems clearer, but much work remains to be done. Because of long-standing commitments on both sides, the next round of talks has been scheduled for the week of March 27 in Ottawa.

As always, we appreciate the patience and the support of our members while your elected representatives work hard to bring back the best possible collective agreement for your approval.

In solidarity,

Peter Duffey                                                    Doug Best
President                                                         Executive Vice President
