One Final Note – Stay Connected, Stay Engaged!

Vote Ian Thomson—proven, principled, and committed to every member.
June 17, 2025

Dear CATCA Members of Atlantic Canada,

As the election for Regional Vice President draws near, I want to thank all of you for the
conversations, messages, and reflections you’ve shared along the way. It’s a good
reminder of what keeps our Union strong—not just elections, but ongoing connection.
Your vote matters, and I encourage everyone to take a moment to participate before
voting closes on June 23rd. More than that, I encourage you to stay engaged—because
this work doesn’t end after the ballot.

Your elected representatives—at the branch, regional, and national levels—are here to
serve you. Whether it’s a workplace issue, a question about the collective agreement, or
a need for support, there are people in place to help. Our branch leaders and stewards
are key to making sure local concerns are heard, respected, and resolved. Part of my
role as RVP has been to make sure those channels of communication are working—and
that information flows clearly, respectfully, and in a way that helps make sure members
are informed and supported.
Coming out of Convention, I’ve heard some concern about how the National Board is

functioning. I don’t see a board that’s broken. I see a group that gets a lot done and also
has areas where things could work better and with greater transparency. Most
members don’t get to see the inner workings of the Union and how decisions are made
day to day or the huge amount of work that gets done behind the scenes. Your elected
bargaining team members do. If you’re hearing things and have questions, I encourage
you to talk to them. They can speak from experience and help build understanding of
how our Union functions and works to protect and advance your rights.

We are strongest when members stay connected, ask questions, and share their perspectives. Let’s keep those conversations going—well past voting day. Thank you for the opportunity to do this work. I’d be deeply honoured to continue representing you.

In solidarity,

Ian Thomson
