James “Jimmy” Johnson

It is with deep personal regret that we inform you that James “Jimmy” Johnson, an Edmonton ACC Controller, passed away the morning of July 19, 2016. Jimmy was a CATCA member since 1991.

Jimmy graduated from St. Mary’s University, Halifax with a Bachelor of Science in 1988 and joined the Canadian Airforce as a pilot from 1988 to 1991.

He completed his ATC training in Cornwall in May 1991 and started his career as a Controller at St. John’s Tower until 1995. He then moved to Moncton ACC high level from 1993 to 1997. In 1997 Jimmy then moved to Edmonton ACC enroute and acted as Controller, supervisor and training supervisor.

He will be missed by his Edmonton ACC brothers and sisters, and all CATCA members across the country.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Jimmy’s family and friends at this sad and difficult time.

Our deepest condolences,
