Tomorrow, on International Women’s Day, we honour and celebrate women and recognize not only their achievements, but also the strength, resiliency, and determination required for everything they have accomplished. Amplifying the voices of women and lifting barriers to success empowers women to reach their full potential.
Ways to celebrate tomorrow:
- Challenge gender stereotypes, discrimination, and bias.
- Reflect on unconscious bias within yourself.
- Advocate and speak up for women, even when they aren’t in the room.
- Reflect on the progress made and the advancement of women’s rights, and acknowledge that there is more work to be done here.
- Educate yourself on the diverse experiences, challenges, and barriers that are unique to women.
- Recognize and acknowledge intersectionality, and how different forms of discrimination can overlap, and worsen inequality (for example, the affects on Black and Indigenous women).
- Reflect on all of the powerful and incredible women in your life, and take a moment to let them know you value and appreciate them.
- Wear purple in honour of International Women’s Day.
To all the spectacular women – let this day be a reminder of your strength, tenacity, brilliance, triumphs, worth, and the light you shine upon the world.
