Involuntary Trainee Layoffs and Level of Service Study
As most, if not all CATCA Members are now aware, today saw a grim reminder of the financial impact the COVID-19 pandemic is having on the aviation industry, and in turn, NAV Canada. While NAV Canada has been making every effort to avoid taking measures such as the release of most probationary employees today, NAV Canada indicated that the current and forecasted financial landscape left them little choice at this time.
In addition to these actions, the company informed CATCA today that they are moving forward with the Level of Service study for St. Jean Tower and has served notice under Article 33 for same. Results of this study are expected within 6 months. CATCA will continue to hold discussions with affected members and NAV Canada.
Your CATCA Executive Board remains in talks with NAV Canada regarding the Wage Deferral Request, in addition to several other issues, to achieve a result that is balanced and in the best interest of CATCA Members.
In Solidarity,
Doug Best Scott Loder
President Executive Vice President
