International Day of the Air Traffic Controller

Today, we recognize you – the air traffic controllers who keep Canada’s skies safe, day in and day out.  Monday, October 20, 2025, marks the International Day of the Air Traffic Controller, a day to celebrate the skill, focus, and solidarity that define our profession.

This year, our recognition carries even greater meaning. Across North America, it’s never been clearer how much is being asked of air traffic controllers – from staffing shortages and fatigue to the ripple effects of events like the U.S. government shutdown. Yet, through it all, CATCA members continue to rise to the occasion – supporting one another, adapting to constant demands, and maintaining the highest safety standards in the world.

We also want to acknowledge the many CATCA members who don’t wear headsets but whose work is essential to keeping operations running smoothly behind the scenes.

On behalf of the Executive Board, thank you for your continued professionalism, resilience, and unity. Your dedication to safety and to each other is the foundation of this profession – and the reason aviation continues to trust and depend on us.

In solidarity,

The Executive Board
