NAV CANADA Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Peer Support
Confidential peer support for controllers and operational staff after critical incidents (aircraft emergencies, near collisions, runway incursions, loss of life, or a co-worker's death); trained volunteer CISM peers provide emotional first aid and can refer you to the EFAP or a Health and Wellness Coordinator. The peer contact list is on the NAV CANADA intranet; general questions go to livewell@navcanada.ca.
NAV CANADA Fatigue Management Resources
Shift-work and alertness resources for controllers in 24/7 operations, covering sleep, strategic caffeine use, nutrition, exercise, and relaxation techniques; backed by NAV CANADA's award-winning Fatigue Risk Management System (CANSO 2023) that sets enforceable limits on shift length, consecutive shifts, and rest.
