Canadian Air Traffic Controllers Ratify Four Year Agreement

January 29, 2020

Members of the Canadian Air Traffic Control Association (Unifor Local 5454) have overwhelmingly ratified a four-year collective agreement with a 91.9% majority vote. This ties the highest ratification percentage on record for CATCA. The new collective agreement term will be April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2023. A total of 90.1% of the membership cast ballots.

The new agreement, which was unanimously recommended by the 20-member bargaining team, calls for fair increases to salaries and air traffic control premiums in each of the four years of the new contract. The agreement also includes other changes to terms and conditions of work that will benefit all members.

We thank the members for taking the time to vote and ratify this agreement. We also would like to thank the members for their outstanding support and solidarity during this long round of bargaining. Standing together has brought us a fair collective agreement that will provide a period of stability for this Union.

Thanks also to the entire Contract Committee for their hard work and dedication during this extended bargaining process. These volunteers gave countless amounts of their personal time and always answered the call to travel when we needed to convene the team, sometimes on short notice. Their hard work has now been validated by CATCA members.

In solidarity,

Peter Duffey                                                    Doug Best
