A final farewell from CATCA President Peter Duffey
Dear Members:
The CATCA Executive Board has accepted my retirement notice effective today, June 10. Today will be my last day in the role of CATCA President. As you have already seen, nominations for my replacement will open shortly.
I want to thank all of you for the tremendous support you have shown me over the years. CATCA is strong because you, the members, make us strong. We have accomplished a lot over the last 6 years, and I am proud of everything we have done. We have reworked classification (a project still underway), we have increased CATCA’s presence on social media, we got pay back for trainees, we eliminated the differences between control and non-control positions and most importantly, we settled 2 outstanding contracts that provided solid financial gains to our members.
I was once told when I became President “your job is to leave the Union in better shape than it was before you got the leadership”. I can say proudly that my team and I accomplished that mission.
Again, I want to thank you all for the tremendous honour of representing you over the past six years as President, and prior to that, five years as the RVP in Central Region. I will miss the job and I will miss the people. It’s been one heck of a ride!
If you wish, please take a moment to watch a final video announcement here.
Stay strong, stand together, and keep fighting the good fight. Take care of each other.
Warmest Regards,
Peter Duffey
President
